Regional Transport Plan

Funding Required: $1 million over two years

Funding Purpose: Resourcing for DPLH, Dept of Transport and Main Roads WA to work with Peel Alliance members and stakeholders to develop a comprehensive Regional Transport Plan, including addressing the ‘Planning Investigation Areas’ noted in Perth and Peel @ 3.5 million.

The Perth and Peel regions are projected to grow to a population of 3.5 million by 2050, an increase of almost 70% of our current population.  Perth and Peel @ 3.5 million is a suite of land use planning and frameworks, developed by Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) to guide the future growth of the regions and ensure sustainable and vibrant communities.

The Peel region has been included in Perth and Peel @ 3.5 million – Transport Network.  It is effective for the linkages of Peel to greater Perth, however further detail is required to sustainably plan for the growth forecast within the region, along with opportunities for innovation and technology.

Peel Alliance proposes that a Peel Regional Transport Plan will provide a more detailed assessment with value added to the Peel region and its connectivity to adjoining regions, including the metropolitan area.  We are advocating for this project to be listed as a priority for DPLH, Department of Transport, and Main Roads WA, to develop over the next two years.
