Mundijong Freight Rail Realignment

Funding Required: $60,000,000

Funding Purpose: To realign the South West Freight Rail from the Mundijong Whitby Urban cell.

The Freight Rail currently divides the town centre from the West Mundijong Industrial Area adjacent to the Tonkin Highway Reservation. This project will complement and provide increased effectiveness for the proposed Inter Modal Transport Hub, reduce future infrastructure construction costs, and provide value capture benefits through increased land values.

The railway currently facilitates up to 45 train movements per day, the vast majority of which are freight movements passing through the town centre.

In addition, Mundijong has a projected population of 50,000 which will see major development which is not conducive in the current location of the South Western Freight Rail Location.
